That’s it, it’s done, 2022 is finally over. And what a year it's been — from the return of 90’s ultra-thin brows to the cold girl make up trend and big bouncy blow-out hair, nostalgia has taken centre stage in the beauty sphere. Here at Cult Beauty we’ve waved in industry-leading {skin care}, {make up} and {wellness} products over the last 12 months, so join us and take a look back at our beauty highlights... and discover which products you need to take with you into 2023!

In January we wanted beautiful skin

The darling of the make up world — Charlotte Tilbury — dropped her gorgeously radiant {Beautiful Skin Foundation} and we quickly became obsessed. Not only is this formulation high-performing thanks to its ability to hydrate, plump, smooth and encourage radiance (phew!), it also grants a medium coverage without being cakey on the skin. Hurrah for make up that enhances our complexion and lets our natural beauty shine through.

In February it was all about hair care

The dark cold February days made us all reconsider the health of our hair, and after countless lockdowns (and maybe one too many at-home hair experiments…) we needed a {hair care} game changer. A powerful little unassuming bottle from K18 would soon become a hair care phenomenon — and no wonder with its patented 'K18Peptide™'. The hair wizardry in the {Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask} formula works on a molecular level to reconnect and repair damaged protein chains on hair strands. The result? Stronger, smoother, softer and bouncier hair that’s full of life!

In March we started to think about spf

As the wintery days dissipated, and the sun began to slowly make an appearance, SPF was at the forefront of our minds. Supergoop! came to our rescue with its easy to reapply {(Re)setting Mineral SPF}. We’ve all had the importance of SPF drilled into our brains but reapplying throughout the day isn’t as easy as lathering up before make up in the morning. But, with this travel-friendly, convenient little skin saviour, our faces have never been safer. Formulated with micro-nano particles that form a physical barrier against UVA and UVB rays, this powerful powder not only mattifies your skin and sets your make up, but keeps you sun-safe throughout the day too!

In April we wanted to treat our limbs

With Spring in full bloom, our unloved limbs began to make more of an appearance, and with our black tights firmly shoved to the back of our wardrobes, it was time to give them some TLC. Sol de Janiero arrived with their new limb-loving {Beija Flor Elasti-Cream}. Brimming with good-for-skin ingredients (think: elasticity-boosting cacay oil and plant-based collagen) this rich body cream transforms skin to its silky smooth best over time, thanks to its ability to boost cell turnover. An innovative cream that not only smells like a dream but has certainly become a staple in our body care routine.

In May we needed to be rescued

With our limbs feeling soft and smooth it was time to take on an all too common concern. We know you know what we’re talking about when we say heat, sweat and thighs... But the year 2022 was the year we put down the talc and had Megababe rescue us from beauty bug-bears we were too embarrassed to talk about. Winner of New Beauty’s ‘Best Chafe Stick’ in 2022, Allure Best of Beauty 2021, Allure Best of Beauty 2020... we could go on! The {Thigh Rescue} was our answer to a smooth, no-mess, friction-free glide. Perfect for anywhere chafing is a problem from thighs, toes, shoulders and even elbows…

In June we obsessed over our flutters

The Cult classic brand The Ordinary, with its simple ingredients, purse-friendly prices and hard-working products dropped its {Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum}.  Harnessing the power of 11 (yes 11!) key actives, from zinc chloride to camellia sinensis extract, to nourishing 'Redensyl' and fortifying 'Widelash', this twice-daily treatment means you can achieve thicker, ad-ready lashes and brows, perfect for the resurgence of the ultra simple clean girl make up look.

In July we wanted big bouncy hair

With '90s nostalgia playing a big part in beauty trends in 2022 (and we don’t see it going away any time soon…) big, bouncy supermodel hair was what we all wanted. But grappling with a hair dryer and a round bristle brush to achieve this look only led to achy arms and frizzy flat hair. But thankfully, Drybar came to our rescue with the {The Double Shot Blow Dry Brush}. Combining the hot air of a hair dryer and the roundness of a barrel brush to make creating voluminous bouncy hair a breeze.

August was about summer skin

Summer skin is all about letting your skin shine in all its natural beauty. So, when Summer Fridays dropped their {Sheer Skin Tint} it was love at first swatch. The feather-light formula of this skin tint means it glides on complexions leaving a weightless finish. Buildable from sheer to light coverage, this summer must-have covers redness and evens skin tone without looking anything close to cakey. The result? Radiant, dewy skin perfect for beach days and beyond.

September we needed some coverage

VIEVE’s high performing make up came to our rescue with its dew-bestowing, under-eye brightening {Modern Radiance Concealer} This powerhouse formula comes in 20 versatile shades, and is infused with hyaluronic acid, a unique 'Skin Thirst Relief Complex' and 'Phytoradiance Complex', making this a skin-loving concealer that also perfects your base. The range of shades come in variations of Light, Medium and Dark, meaning you can find your perfect match to brighten your under eyes or chisel out those cheekbones.

October was all about the gloss

Whenever Pat Mcgrath releases something new we’re always obsessed, however, we fell head over heels in lust with {LUST: Gloss}. This multi-dimensional, runway-ready lip enhancer (that comes in 35 shades from sheer to super saturated) glides across lips for supreme payoff. Worn alone or on top of lipstick for an even more dramatic look, these glosses are the answer to our lip gloss dreams.

November we needed to relax

With the thought of Christmas getting closer and closer, it was time to take a break and indulge in some stress-relieving self-care, cue The Nue Co.'s {Water Therapy} — a fragrance to lift moods and do the job of supplements... you read that right! Harnessing patented fragrance technology; inspired by the ancient practice of thalassotherapy, which imitates the effect of being in, near or submerged in water, this bottle of wonder calms the mind with a few spritzes of its scent-sational aroma. Perfect to keep in your bag (thanks to the handy travel size version) simply spray on pressure points when you feel your cortisol levels rise and be whisked away to calmer climes.

December we needed to be bright-eyed

With the end of the year in sight, and endless get-togethers, late nights and copious amounts of Prosecco on the horizon; Sunday Riley’s {Best Selling Brightening Duo} was exactly what we needed. Featuring two of the brand's iconic formulas — {C.E.O Afterglow} and {Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment} — these were the answer to bestow a much-needed glow to our parched skin. Working in tandem, these two hero products plump fine lines, fight hyper-pigmentation, heal scar tissue and boost circulation so skin looks smoother, younger and more vibrant.
