With a ‘gentle-is-essential’ formula, the Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Body and Hair is an effective cleanser that rids your hair, skin and scalp of excess sebum, dirt, debris and product residue — without leaving skin feeling stripped, dry or irritated.

With a lightly foaming formula, this multipurpose product uses a modified sulphate derivative called SLES-2, at a minimal concentration of just 4%. This modified sulphate is an effective cleansing agent — its a surfactant, which dissolves the barrier between dirt and oil on your skin, scalp and hair, allowing this to be rinsed away easily with water — but doesn’t feature the irritating, sensitising or drying attributes we often associate with traditional sulphates. Instead, it helps to maintain the skin barrier — both on your body and your scalp — to keep it hydrated and healthy. In fact, this cleanser can even safely be used to a colour-treated mane without stripping it.

Work the cleanser into wet hair and body. Rinse. If irritation occurs, rinse off, cease use, and consult a physician. Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children.

The Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Body and Hair is one of three core hair heroes from The Ordinary, each formulated with the same ingredients-first, results-driven ethos that made their affordable skin care essentials so beloved by Team Cult Beauty (and the rest of the beauty industry too!). Think: less fluff, less filler, more of what your hair and scalp actually need. There’s been lots of discussion around the use of sulphates in cleansers in the past few years — but rather than ditch them entirely, The Ordinary went back to the drawing board, carefully researching them to create a formula that makes use of the effective nature of sulphates, while minimising any potential for irritation or dryness. This double-duty cleanser utilises a 4% concentration of SLES-2, an exceptionally mild sulphate that will gently lift away dirt and debris from hair and skin while still supporting your skin’s all-important moisture barrier.

Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Polysorbate 20, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Phytic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

Excellent
It is excellent for a slightly dry scalp. It moisturizes. Not greasy and does not leave an unpleasant smell.

AMAZING!
Love it! Made my hair grow beautifully but runs out pretty fast. So worth the price though

Love the feeling, but does leave a residue
I enjoy to put this serum on my scalp because it’s cold and feels hydrating, but you definitely see it the next day. It leaves a soft residue on my scalp, which makes my hair look oily. I now use it just before washday, but I am going to look into other serums and hopefully find one that is truly “not visible”!
