Gentle Purple Shampoo That Tones Without Drying

I’ll start with the positive: this purple shampoo is sulfate-free and, unlike many toning shampoos, it doesn’t leave my hair overly dry — a big win. As a reminder, purple shampoos are formulated to neutralize yellow tones in blonde hair based on the color wheel. If your hair has stronger orange or red tones, you’ll actually need a blue shampoo for best results, since purple will only tone the yellow and leave the orange muted but still visible. For stronger toning, I’ve found it helps to leave the shampoo on for 5–15 minutes, or even apply it to dry hair before washing for a more intense effect. Overall, it’s a gentle and effective option if yellow brassiness is your main concern.
