If your hair has stronger orange or red tones, you’ll actually need a blue shampoo for best results, since purple will only tone the yellow and leave the orange muted but still visible. For stronger toning, I’ve found it helps to leave the shampoo on for 5–15 minutes, or even apply it to dry hair before washing for a more intense effect. Overall, it’s a gentle and effective option if yellow brassiness is your main concern.
