What began as ‘an experiment in candle making’, quickly ignited the passions of those with a penchant for life’s finer things… The brainchild of two fashion veterans – Matthew Herman and David Kien – Boy Smells defies gender stereotypes and the brand, from design through to fragrance, successfully straddles the binary. Candles for every identity, Boy Smells blends typically ‘masculine’ scents with a medley of ‘feminine’ florals, resulting in candles that challenge traditional classifications and put a fresh, 21st Century spin on perfumery doctrine. Expect the unexpected…
Suede and Stetsons, dust and tonka, Boy Smells’ COWBOY KUSH Candle is hailed as ‘akin to enjoying a jay at a rodeo’. Think: tanned leather, hemp and a hint of patchouli to get the idea of this wildly evocative offering
Encapsulating fragrance in a coconut and beeswax blend, contained within a glossy jar with honey-coloured label, this playful, androgynous scent is the heat of the desert distilled into wax. Marrying smooth notes of leather and labdanum, marijuana and sun-ripened raspberry, picture a seat-softened saddle, the warmth of the late Californian sun and the stark silhouette of a cactus to conjure the laid-back and hazy effect of its smooth, smoky fragrance (no chaps required). Add the tang of saffron and the creamy, sweet vanilla notes of tonka to the mix and your soul will be truly lassoed.
For optimal burning, trim wicks to a ¼” before each light to avoid smoking and overheating. Once the flame is extinguished make sure the wick is upright and centred. The first burn of any candle should be long enough for the entire top layer of wax to liquify. This will ensure an even burn for each light. Refrain from burning candles longer than three hours at a time, and never burn a candle when there is less than ¼” of wax at the base. Always protect the surface on which the candle sits.
Approx. 50 hrs burn time.
Coconut and beeswax blend with braided cotton wick, in glossy black glass tumbler.

Very weird smelling
This is very funky smelling. It actually smells nothing like the notes listed. All I get is a strong minestrone vibe with some almond sweetness from the tonka. I was hoping to like this but it actually makes me gag a bit :) Cult’s customer service was flawless nonetheless!
