For once, the hype is real
I must say the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm (I have Sweet Mint) has truly exceptional qualities to it. It doesn't taste disgusting, for one, but sweet. Sweetness with the minty flavour is not my favourite combination, but miles better than most lip balms and oils, most of which invariably taste stale or very much of the chemicals, rather than something that you might otherwise find putting in your mouth. The minty quality also enhances the circulation in my lips which is a welcome extra relief. Almost immediately after application, I can feel my lips feeling more at ease and quickly softening in a way I have yet to encounter with any other lip product - and I've tested a heap of them. This balm performs a peculiar amalgamation of softening the dry top layer "back into my lips" instead of leaving it crusty and peeling. This balm is not, however, the thickest there is - unlike, say, the Fenty Plush Pudding Lip Mask, which I also adore, that leaves a visible thick and juicy protective layer onto the lips. This Butter Balm consistency is unlike anything I've encountered; it's not greasy in the slightest, nor super viscous, but it stays on the lips for a long time and gets the job of conditioning your lips done quickly and efficiently, making them feel super soft in no time. I often like to start with the Butter Balm in the morning and then put the Fenty on a bit later to thicken the humidity protecting barrier. That being said, if a great one-and-done all-day-every-day lip balm is what you're seeking, look no further. The tube is also a decent sized one and the price is somewhat justifiable for the quality and amount you're getting.
