Twist base to dispense product. Retract and firmly replace cap after each use to prevent the formula from drying out. For a diffused effect, define the eyes along the upper lash line and blend. For a winged look, extend the liner past the outer corner of the eye using short strokes until the desired length is achieved.

Love this pencil
I have bought and tried so many eye liners over the years. This one is hands down the best in terms of application and longevity. I adore the shade (cave) and have now bought two. I removed one star because unfortunately the twist-up mechanism doesn't always work. The first pencil I received was damaged and when it finally twisted up it broke off. Cult Beauty replaced it immediately which was great.

Nice shade
I like the way this pencil doesn't have to be sharpened, it's retractable. Really lovely shade but it does have the tendency to smudge in the water line. It's great for using as a winged liner and smudging it out.

Disappointing
This is the first of many Hourglass products that has been a let down. I bought it specifically because it's supposed to be waterproof...Not on me it isn't! It It's actually far worse in this respect than cheaper products that are not marketed as such. It doesn't stay put and smears everywhere.

New fave
I was so excited to try this new eyeliner out as I love the Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Liner but everyone who has tried it knows that there is not loads of product inside.I can confidently say that I have been using this liner almost every day for a couple of months now and it seems like I still have plenty of product left. The formula itself is creamy and easy to blend before finally setting in place. If you want to create a really defined wing then it won't be the easiest formula to work with but not impossible.

Disappointed
Hourglass is really hit or miss. This was unfortunately a miss...as always, beautiful packaging, smooth & creamy formula that was super easy to apply. But a few hours later and I'm a panda. The color migrated...for this price point, one can expect a more sturdy formula. Another huge disappointment: there is no sharpener on the end. So once you lose the point, there's no way to bring it back. Really, Hourglass? My search for a worthy replacement for my discontinued Marc Jacobs HG continues...
