SLEEP-FFICIENT SKINCARE
As a new metric for beauty, health and wellness, sleep is no longer just a passive act, it shines the spotlight on rest culture too. “Overnight treatments offering ‘beauty sleep in a bottle’ solutions, are rising in the ranks. We’re talking everything from night creams, overnight face masks, lip masks for hydration and products that offer a satisfying ‘morning shed’ experience ” explains Hannah. What’s more taking the trend one step further, “skintellectual consumers will also turn to sleep-efficient skin care – powered by active ingredients – to address specific anti-ageing needs in overnight formulas” Hannah adds.

Forecasted in 2022, tweakment adjacent skin care is finally coming into fruition. Boosting the same results as non-invasive clinic treatments – but from the comfort of your own home – the trend includes everything from “at-home microneedling to professional-grade supercharged LED devices that will continue to gain momentum as customers seek tools that offer efficiency. Proven results, clinical studies and expert word of mouth endorsement will be essential to drive this trend forward” says Hannah. Also driving its popularity is the emerging Glass Skin aesthetic. How? Because tweakment adjacent skin care provides high-maintenance products and regimes for low-maintenance looks. Think: plumped, bouncy and glowing skin.

Growth factor serums are formulas that contain different types of peptides that signal various mechanisms in the skin to repair cellular damage, promote the induction of collagen and improve skin quality and tone. “EGF serums have gained traction in 2024 and for AW we will see more of this moving into more targeted treatment such as eye and lip care” predicts Hannah.

BOYFRIEND BLUSH
We come baring good news. The blush boom isn’t going anywhere. This season it’s all about “using a generous application of blush to mimic the natural, flushed look, as if you’ve just enjoyed a brisk autumnal walk” says Sophia. Dubbed Boyfriend Blush, this look takes its name from the flustered face your other half may have once they’ve finished exercising – AKA it’s applied lower on the face, beneath the cheekbones and goes from the ear towards the nose.

Let’s face it, there’s no era that lives up to the energy of the 90s. Every season the beauty sphere can’t help but bring back one of its *many* iconic trends. For AW24 we’re once again seeing “a throwback to the 90’s, but this time with a soft modern spin – think cool tones eyeshadows and soft tonal lips or blushes” explains Sophia. Paying homage to the earlier parts of the decade, this make up phenomena spotlights pale, icy and pastel blues rather than the stereotypical 90s browns and nudes. Now that’s what we call a fresh spin…

For AW24 Soft Focus beauty is having a slight make over. “This time around it focuses on complexion formulas with medium to high coverage that enhance real skin that’s almost filtered to the eye” notes Sophia. Keeping your make up to a minimum, it embraces a second-skin base, blurred lines and clouded shadows and blush. What’s more, modernised with a neutral palette, it utilises both berry and nude tones too.

BIOME HAIR CARE
While the skinification of hair is not necessarily new, this AW24 we expect to see a rise in scalp-balancing washes and treatments. “Biome hair care encourages consumers to undo damage starting from the root of hair health – the scalp microbiome. With this we’re noticing consumers prioritise shampoos with ingredients that gently remove build-up without stripping the scalp, such as pre and probiotics” Hannah tells us.

“This season we are seeing a new generation of tech driven hair tools that will further streamline routines with efficiency, convenience and versatility. Brands are harnessing AI to create optimised heated tools that are kinder on the hair and scalp, helping to keep hair loss to a minimum” says Hannah.

In addition to big, bouncy blow outs and bangs, this is the season where Glass Hair will shine. “Hair gloss, inspired by glass skin, will continue to gain traction. By this we mean masks and sprays that have hydrating and bonding properties that temporarily coat the hair shafts for a softer finish” explains Hannah. With that in mind, we’re anticipating tresses that are smooth, soft, and oh so glossy!

SUNLESS TANNING
Extreme weather patterns, increasing awareness of sun damage and Y2K nostalgia, are just *some* of the reasons why sunless tanning is on the up. “Fake tan is not just for summer; gradual tans remain popular through the colder months too” says Abbie.
