WOODY & MUSK FRAGRANCES

Woody perfumes feature notes such as sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, patchouli or oud. They can smell dry, creamy, smoky, earthy or smooth, depending on the wood and the notes surrounding it. Pairings with fresh or green notes tend to feel lighter, while amber or spice can add warmth.

Musk can smell soft, airy, powdery, warm or skin-like. It is often used in a fragrance's base to give the composition a smooth finish and help connect the other notes. Some musk perfumes are subtle, while others combine musk with woods, amber or florals for greater depth.

Woody fragrances centre on notes inspired by wood, roots and forests, while musky fragrances focus on soft, warm or skin-like notes. The families often overlap, which is why sandalwood, cedar and musk regularly appear in the same composition.

Choose sandalwood for a creamy feel, cedar for something drier or vetiver for an earthy, green edge. If you prefer added warmth, look for amber or spicy notes. For a lighter interpretation, explore blends with citrus or aromatic herbs. You can also browse our wider aftershave and cologne selection.
