Conjuring the heady floral scent of Marie Antoinette’s private hide-away garden in the grounds of the palace of Versailles, Trianon epitomises femininity and elegance with notes of Hyacinth, fresh white flowers, Rose and a hint of musk. The scent of late spring, this calming yet uplifting candle is the perfect way to banish the wintry gloom and usher a little bit of sunshine into even the darkest day (or stuffiest study). Completely paraffin-free and made using only the finest natural oils and waxes, these candles burn cleanly and evenly for up to 70 hours, and make a stunning addition to any bedside table, desk or mantelpiece – housed in hand-blown Italian candle-glass with their signature gold label stating the motto of the ‘Maison Trudon’; ‘Deo regique laborant’ meaning ‘They work for God and King’ (‘they’ being bees).

Established in the 17th century, Cire Trudon is the oldest candle maker in the world and was responsible for perfuming the persons and palaces of the French monarchy… until Napoleon expressed his mutual penchant for the country’s première candle creators. 100% Vegetable Waxes (palm, rice, soy and coprah oils). Wick of pure cotton. Essential Oils.

It is important to trim wick before each use. When using the candle for the first time, keep the candle alight until the entire surface is covered in liquid wax. This should take approximately 1 hour and will ensure a more effective, even burn for all future uses. Depending on where the candle is placed it has a burn time of 65-70 hours.

Calming with elegance

I’ve always like the more dramatic Cire Trudon such as Solis Rex, but this is now my fave, very elegant and calming. Perfect for a dinner party. I’ve never had the issue that the first reviewer complained about with Cire Trudon. Note that it’s crucial to light it for at least a couple of hours when you first open it to make sure the wax is evenly distributed so the wick won’t get buried under.

Gorgeous but unusable

This is such a beautiful candle, lovely floral scent. But the wick is horrid. I have two candles from this brand, both of which have wicks that have become way too short for me to use the candles. I have not trimmed them - there was never an opportunity to do so. The wick just disappears on you. Unforgivable and very disappointing at this price point.
