If you love the idea of exfoliating with alpha hydroxy acids but have sensitive, easily offended skin, this is the formulation you’ve been waiting for. Ingredients such as glycolic acid offer incredible resurfacing powers, dissolving the bonds that bind dead, dulling cells to your skin to uncover the smooth, even radiance beneath. However, this can cause irritation – enter, mandelic acid. A gentler ‘peeling’ member of the alpha hydroxy acid family, it penetrates the skin more slowly, making it milder and better suited to sensitive complexions.
Alpha hydroxy acids are a well-established skin care hero. Ingredients such a glycolic, lactic and malic acid are renowned for their ability to dissolve the skin’s dulling ‘stratum corneum’ (the oldest, thinnest, top layer of skin) and reveal the younger, more radiant cells beneath. However, these potent acids can irritate skin, especially sensitive complexions – and that’s where The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% + HA comes in. This innovative formulation offers superficial dermal peeling (that’s exfoliation to you and me) that is gentler than other alpha hydroxy acid formulations. How is it gentler, you ask? Simple – the molecular weight of mandelic acid is larger than that of other alpha hydroxy acids and this larger size means that it penetrates the skin more slowly. This makes for a milder exfoliating experience that will suit even the most sensitive complexions, leaving skin smoother, more even and gorgeously glowing. The Ordinary’s (characteristically ingenious) formulation also includes hyaluronic acid, to hydrate and comfort skin while plumping away the look of fine lines. A must-have for sensitive, reactive skin types.
Propanediol, Aqua (Water), Mandelic Acid, Glycerin, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol

Apply once per day, ideally in the PM. Can be diluted with other treatments to reduce strength until skin develops tolerance. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult a physician. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.
Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

Terrible
I really don't recommend this acid - broke me out in tiny under-skin bumps all over my face and neck. Made my skin very rough to touch, complete disappointment. It has been my second attempt to use this product and the same thing happened before. It takes months to get rid of the damage it has caused.

Gentle Acid
This product is good. Gentle compared to anothers acids, but effective. Altough the formula could be better.

Love this!
This is one of my top faves from T.O. It’s gentle enough to use for someone with sensitive skin (like me) & do not cause any inflammation or irritation at all - but still does its job perfectly! This along with the Glycolic Acid Toner is a winner for me.

Mandelic acid
This product did help smooth my skin a little bit but I started experiencing tiny bumps on my face after using it. I think it's a little bit over rated.

Lovely gentle acid formula
I absolutely love this product. Gentle compared to glycolic acid for me, but very effective.

Keep going!
The first few weeks of using this product I went through a purging period but now after a month my skin looks and feels softer, clearer, smoother and more glowy. My skin is dry, slightly sensitive and blemish-prone but this acid has definitely helped reduce my spots slightly and improve my skin in general.

Would be better in serum form
Lovely and gentle on skin but hate that it's an oil. Needs to be reformulated as a serum.

BROKE OUT!!!
First of all the instructions on how to use this product is extremely poor (does not state how or how often to use)! Having had sensitive skin for many years, the suitability of this product for ‘sensitive skin’ instantly sold me. Glycolic acid breaks me out and irritates my skin so this product really stood out to me. However, with great regret, I’m so sad to say that this did not help me skin AT ALL! If anything it makes it worse. My skin started peeling so badly (again poor directions on how often/ how much to use). Very upset.

Best Mild Peeling Acid
I have tried Glycolic Acid for everyday use. The stinging sensation every time I apply is just something that I hate. I tried the mandelic acid and it is so pleasant to put on. No stinging sensation. My skin starts to clear up by 1 week.
