Taking its name from Pixies' 1989 track, D.S. & Durga's Debaser perfume is an ode to the crackle of car radios, band frontrunner Black Francis' wild shrill and the lurching change of rhythm; done so via contradictory accords, this humid and provocative scent plays with notes of deep purple fig, soft blond woods, wet white ethereal musk and the coumarin-vanillic note of tonka bean.
With simple monochrome bottles that let the scents do the talking, D.S. & Durga’s gender-neutral perfumes make a fine addition to any vanity. Carefully crafted from vegan ingredients that are cherry-picked for aromatic payoff and quality, each scent is shaped in New York City but their stories span the world over. I got a travel size of this scent in Cult Beauty The Sweet Spritz Edit and first time I tried it I was a bit confused by the scent. But then I couldn't stop smelling my wrist all day and knew I had to have a full bottle! It smells green like grass or stems, but in such a pleasant way. Good for summer

Wonderful for fig lovers
I got this without sampling first based on my love for fig fragrances and the reviews read. Although at first I thought it smelled a bit masculine, once it settles it is a beautiful, crisp, green fig that is completely unisex and perfect for anyone who enjoys fresh and green scents. Also very potent. Bonus points for being able to share it with my SO!

A Beautiful Fresh Green Scent
I received this fragrance in a perfume edit from Cult Beauty. The scent is wonderful. It smells like fresh green grass — the kind of aroma you want to keep inhaling again and again. For me, it feels completely unisex. I enjoy wearing it myself, and I also like how it smells on my husband. Many people compare it to Philosykos. They do have some similarities, but I personally can’t wear Philosykos — on my skin it feels a bit sharp and unnatural. In contrast, Debaser feels much smoother and more enjoyable to smell. If you’ve never tried green, grassy fragrances, I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly. But if you love this type of scent, it’s definitely worth trying.

My winter version of Philosykos: more masculine leaning and a bit fresher in its opening with a lovely drydown of coconut and fig. Lasts a really long time: can still smell it on my clothes days later. Unlike any other fig perfume, I like it a lot.
