  • D.S. & DURGA Debaser

Image 1 of 1

Taking its name from Pixies' 1989 track, D.S. & Durga's Debaser perfume is an ode to the crackle of car radios, band frontrunner Black Francis' wild shrill and the lurching change of rhythm; done so via contradictory accords, this humid and provocative scent plays with notes of deep purple fig, soft blond woods, wet white ethereal musk and the coumarin-vanillic note of tonka bean.

With simple monochrome bottles that let the scents do the talking, D.S. & Durga’s gender-neutral perfumes make a fine addition to any vanity. Carefully crafted from vegan ingredients that are cherry-picked for aromatic payoff and quality, each scent is shaped in New York City but their stories span the world over. Capturing the spirit of adolescent defiance and discovery, this intoxicating scent is akin to listening to that formative album that fundamentally shaped your taste and style.

Start by spraying it on your pulse points: behind the ears, wrists, ankles. It will rise in spirals around your body. Then spray a scent halo around your neck, head and hair.

Evolving from their Brooklyn roots (it all started in D.S.’s Bushwick apartment…), today D.S. & Durga’s luxury line is lauded by tastemakers — or should we say, scentmakers — and fragrance-ophiles around the world. Bottling a universe within each perfume and candle, each scent has a story, be it the seaside escapism of the {Rose Atlantic} or the punk-inspired subversiveness of the Debaser scent. Speaking of which, this olfactory ode to alternative rock is as soul-touching as the music you loved in your formative years; bergamot, fig, tonka bean, moss and blond woods riff with one and other to create a provocative, devil-may-care aroma.

Alcohol Denat., Parfum (Fragrance), Aqua (Water), Coumarin, Hydroxyisohexyl-3-Cyclohexene-Carboxaldehyde, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral.

Really good
My winter version of Philosykos: more masculine leaning and a bit fresher in its opening with a lovely drydown of coconut and fig. Lasts a really long time: can still smell it on my clothes days later. Unlike any other fig perfume, I like it a lot.
