The Ordinary PHA 5% Exfoliating Lip Serum (15ml) is a gentle, water-based serum designed to smooth, hydrate and renew the lips.
Formulated with 5% gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid (PHA), it gently buffs away dead skin cells on the surface, improving texture and brightness while being suitable for sensitive skin. Enriched with over 50% glycerin, it intensely hydrates and retains moisture, while ectoin protects the skin barrier for long-lasting comfort. Black carrot extract, rich in antioxidants, adds a subtle pink hue and offers additional protective benefits.

Apply a thin layer onto clean, dry lips on alternate evenings as needed. Allow the product to dry. Apply lip balm as needed throughout the day. Keep out of reach of children. It is recommended that prior to exposure to the sun, users apply sunscreen or an SPF lip balm.

Nice lips exfoliator
It smooths lips during the night, but it's not that amazing and it requiers good lip balm on top of it (if not I feel my lips are drier). I will use it here and there, but still the good lip balm combined with lip plumper (that does increase blood flow in lips hence improve the skin from within) does the real magic for me.

Exfoliator is easy to use and gentle on the lips. It even has a fruity aroma. I must say, I haven't noticed the promised hydration, I still need to use my overnight lip mask, but for exfoliation on every other night, it definitely beats physical scrubs.

Gentle Lip Exfoliation, Mild Results
I like this serum as a gentler alternative to lip scrubs, which can sometimes feel a bit harsh on delicate lip skin. The PHA formula exfoliates lightly without irritation and overall feels quite barrier-friendly. That said, despite the very high glycerin content, I didn’t find it particularly hydrating. Once it absorbs (which takes a few minutes), I still need to follow with an overnight lip mask, otherwise my lips feel a little dry. I use it about twice a week with a thin layer. The bottle is huge for that kind of usage and could easily last much longer than the 6-month PAO on the packaging. Overall, the results are quite mild. If you struggle with frequent peeling or rough lips, you might find it helpful. But if your lips are already doing well with a good balm or oil, this might just end up being an extra step. I still rate it highly for the clean, gentle formula and how suitable it is for sensitive skin, but the effect itself is subtle rather than transformative.
