With spooky season well and truly upon us, this can only mean one thing…. Haul-o-ween incoming! No costume? No problem. Halloween is the prime time to pull out your weirdest, wackiest and most wonderful beauty looks. From black lipstick and graphic eyeliner to glittery eyeshadow and face gems – this masked month, no make up look is off limits.

With the clocks ticking, it’s time to get your look on lock. But fear not, here at Cult Beauty, we’ve done the hard work for you, and rounded up our best Halloween make up looks that will do just the trick… or treating.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS

This Hallows Eve, I’ll be channelling my inner Wednesday Addams (braided hair and deadpan expression, et al). More than just a classic smoky eye, I’m going to opt for a light foundation, contoured cheeks and a soft red eyeshadow shade underneath my eyes to create the illusion of under eye bags. Then, of course, I’ll add some gothic flair with black eyeliner (on my eyelid and underneath the eye too) before finishing with a lip plumper. Half dead never looked so good… - Alice, Senior Copywriter

VELMA DINKLEY

This year I’ve convinced (read: forced) some friends to do a group costume. We’re going as the gang from Scooby Doo, and – as I’m the shortest – I will be Velma. While there’s not a lot of heavy make up to the look, I’ll be reaching for a stippling brush (this one from Rose Inc to be precise) and my trusty Bondi Sands Technocolor 1 Hour Express Self Tanning Foam, in ‘Magenta’, to create some freckles across my nose and cheeks. I’ll give the look a finishing flourish with the Byredo Lipstick in ‘Subtropical’, an orangey-red shade to complement my bright orange jumper. – Josie, Content Manager

THE CLASSIC CAT

Wings and whiskers. Nothing beats a last-minute cat eye look... plus whiskers (of course). My favourite eyeliner for this is the Vieve Power Ink Liner. Its features a really unique tip, that’s more like an artist's pen than an eyeliner as it glides smoothly across the lids, and cheeks. Quick, effective and purr-fect.  – Rina, Junior Copywriter

VIOLET BEAUREGARDE

This Halloween, I’ll be taking a trip down memory lane and channelling Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Using the Pat Macgrath Labs Mothership I: Subliminal Palette, I shall create the iconic blue nose using the shade ‘Blitz Blue’ with the Saie Double Brush. Its dual-ended design will allow me pack on colour while blending pigment seamlessly across my face. To top off my look, I’ll finish off with Charlotte Tilbury’s The Super Nudes Lipstick in ‘Cover Star’. Now, where’s my gum? –  Anya, Junior Copywriter

BARBIE

Taking inspiration from the Barbiemania that took over our feeds (and lives) earlier in 2023, I’ll be channelling my inner Margot Robbie this spooky season. Layers of pink eyeshadow from Natasha Denona’s Valentines Kit? Check! Endless amounts of Tower 28’s Beauty Shineon Milky Lip Jelly? Check! NARS’ Orgasm Mini Blush? Check. Oh, and the downfall of the patriarchy? Check, check! – Jade, Senior Copywriter

HARLEY QUINN

With just four colours and two ponytails needed, DC Comic’s Harley Quinn is my to go when it comes to last minute Halloween costumes. Requiring little patience and skill, it’s an easy and effective way to always steal the show. Lazy girl beauty here we come! For my base I will be using NYX Professional Makeup’s Mattifying Charcoal Infused Shine Killer Face Primer with Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder to keep shine at bay. And then, for the signature peepers, Danessa Myricks Beauty’s Colorfix 24 Hour Cream Colour Matte in ‘Beaches’ and ‘Phoenix’ is the only way to go. I start by sweeping the powerful pigment across my lids and lower lash line, before blending it out for that smudge, slept-in sign off. To finish, I’ll add a pop of rock and roll by outlining my eyes with Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Waterproof Creme Color. – Trifonia, Senior SEO Copywriter

SNOW QUEEN

Call me boring, but I have nothing ‘spooky’ in mind for this Halloween. Instead, I want to take this as an opportunity to try something new with my make up, which is about as scary as it gets. Enter: Snow Queen bleached brows! First, I need to block out my own brows with Too Faced’s Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer and set them with Huda Beauty’s Easy Bake Loose Setting Powder in ‘Banana Bread’, to create an even base for fuss-free, budge-proof platinum strokes. Now for the main event — Benefit’s Precisely, My Brow in ‘0.2 Light’ steps in to grant me icy blonde arches for one night. – Precious, Midweight Copywriter
