Our favourite ways to embrace Ultra Violet

Pantone have spoken and 2018 is about to get vibrant… NOT one for wallflowers, this year’s chosen hue is bold, bright (and surprisingly beautiful). A great way to upgrade your nails, as well as a brilliant, eyelid-enhancer, Ultra Violet it the shade of the season so check out these make up must-haves.

With a wardrobe of hues from pale gold to brick red via taupes, tangerines and soft, shimmering ‘Twilight’, the focus of Huda’s best-loved {Desert Dusk} is two perfectly purple-toned shadows. Unflinchingly vibrant, ‘Amethyst’ makes an arresting accent, while the shade-shifting ‘Twilight’ is eye-deal for lending a hypnotic gleam that enhances the after-dark drama.

Like your lips to do the talking? Shrinking violets may choose to bypass this particular hue… Guaranteed to get you noticed, Too Faced’s festival-inspired {La Crème Mystical} in the shade ‘Mermaid Tears’ *demands* attention. Lavender-toned with a cool greenish lustre, this works wonderfully with your Field Day ensemble.

And for those who prefer things a little ‘low key’, BECCA’s brightening primer is great for disguising the signs of dullness. Super subtle and beautifully dewy, {First Light Priming Filter} corrects sallow skin tones with lavender pearls – bestowing a post-workout glow that looks ‘lit from within’.

Channel the craze for graphic eyeliner by sketching squiggles, wings or feline flicks with NYX Professional Makeup’s {Slide On Pencil} in ‘Pretty Violet’ (two trends, one product, CHECK!). Or, take the trend one step further and make like the models at next autumn’s Dries Van Noten show with lashings of vibrant (violet) mascara. We swear by BY TERRY’s {Mascara Terrybly} in ‘Purple Success’ for a (slightly more) wearable take.

And nowhere makes it easier to channel any trend than at your finger-ends. Even naturalistas can accommodate a traffic-stopping nail polish, and Smith & Cult’s {Check The Rhyme} varnish is about as ultra as violet can get… Electric lilac, it’s an easy way to add a ‘pop’ of purple to your everyday ensemble. Stealthily rebellious, it’s great for those who want to make an understated statement
