As close as you can get.
Mind you, this is NOT a retinol serum Nonetheless, if you can't use the real deal, this is a very, very good alternative. Adds extra hidration too.

Have tried different retinols, and always get surface dryness, but this bakuchiol is perfect. No dryness, just smooth, clear skin. It has helped me restore my face to it's younger days. Have repurchased and will continue to do so!

The serum is fine and good for calming sensitive skin. In my opinion, I don't like the texture, quite oily. Skin needs a lot of time to absorb the product.
