Contouring has more than earned its beauty stripes, but the stress seems to be shifting from the muddy, shadow tones used to enhance the look of hollows, to the look-at-me illuminators applied to cheek and brow bones. So whether you favour a dewy, matte or opalescent finish – equip yourself with these top tips…
Choose undertones to complement your skintone – gold for warm or dark skin (try BECCA’s bestselling {Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed} in ‘Champagne Pop’, or RMS Beauty’s beautiful rose gold-toned {Master Mixer}) and silver for cool (By Terry’s {CC Lumi-Serum} in shade #1, ‘Immaculate Light’, or BECCA’s {Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured} in ‘Pearl’) – and use a brush or fingertips to brighten all the ‘high points’ of your face.
There are no hard and fast rules – you can apply highlighter before base, or after for a bit more evening drama (ideal if you’re off for a romantic candlelit dinner #jealous). Just focus on the bridge of your nose, ridges of your cheekbones, brow bones, cupid’s bow and that little indentation underneath your bottom lip. If your eyes are quite close set, applying a lighter shade of shadow to each inner corner will help widen to create a youthful doe-eyed look.
Use a tapered {Highlighter Brush} to dust powder onto smaller, hard-to-access areas, or use a {Fan Brush} to apply along the tops of cheekbones. Soften any ‘edges’ with a fluffy blending brush – Sigma’s {3DHD Kabuki Brush} is angled to ‘hug’ the contours of your face and grant a flawless, ‘soft focus’ effect.
And that’s al there is to it! Now glow forth and prosper… (apologies)!
