How To: Lit-from-Within Skin

Lit-from-Within Skin

The Spring/Summer catwalks were (quite literally) awash with flawless, dewy-skinned faces… but you needn’t wait ’til the weather hots up to look… well, hot (in both senses). Sure, the beads of gel-sweat glued to girls at Teatum Jones’ show seemed extreme (why fake it, when the real thing is only a tube ride away?), but the whole, slightly shiny-healthy-sporty-glossy-girl thing’s here to stay, so start perfecting your ‘lit-from-within’ base like, NOW – and give fashionistas a sprint for their new season (Dolce & Gabbana) crowns.

Valerie from Odacité stopped by to see us, and recommended her {Radiance Effect Booster} as the perfect make up base to ‘tszuj up’ tired faces (that’s French, non?). With camellia seed oil (beauty secret of the Geishas) and lemongrass extract to tighten, tone and invigorate, just two drops massaged over dampened skin will help restore its youthful luminescence.

The perfect base? You need these tools; Beautyblender’s genius see-through {Sur.face Palette} – just swatch and blend foundations ’til you find the perfect colour match (you hold it up against your face, see? Clever.) – and a buffing brush. Studio 10’s {Double Ended Face Brush} has a tapered and a flattened end, to help achieve the perfect, polished canvas.

Apply base sparingly! SS15 beauty’s all about the (slightly 90s) normcore thing – real skin is ‘in’ so focus your foundation on the centre of your face, blurring into nothing as you reach your hair and jawline. Kevyn Aucoin’s incredible {Sensual Skin Fluid Foundation} has a serum-esque consistency and dewy finish, so you can buff it into next-to-nothingness, or layer up on days you need a little extra camouflage. Try to resist the temptation to powder, and add some extra gloss to cheekbones with a quick dab of Egyptian Magic’s {All Purpose Skin Cream} – a backstage beauty staple.
