Detailed Shade and Scent Descriptions
For reference, I have a medium-deep skin tone with neutral to warm undertones. I'm very sensitive (as in I can identify their presence) to fragrances and flavours but I don't mind fragrances usually but I can be picky with flavours. I don't have any specific flavour or fragrance preferences though. Vanilla Beige - Sort of like a milky nude with a hint of pink. It looks too pale on me when I'm tanned but it looks perfect without a tan. The flavour is just basic, artificial vanilla, a little strong for my liking though. The scent lingers too which I don't like. Imo this shade and scent is nth special. Brown Sugar - A cool toned brown, looks like it has a bit of purple. It deepens my lip shade and makes my bottom lip match my upper lip (I have 2 toned lips). I love the flavour too, I don't know if I'm thinking this just because it's brown but to me it tastes like brown sugar and chocolate. The flavour dissipates after a while though. I really love this one! Poppy - It's a sheer bright coral shade which I love so much. Definitely not an orange red or a warm red or an orange, it's the definition of coral for me. The only reason I don't use it often is the flavour, it tastes and smells like a bitter orange to me. I don't think the scent lingers much but I'm really not a fan of the taste so I tend to avoid it. If the bitter taste wasn't there, I would've loved it! Pink Sugar - Pink sugar doesn't show up on me very well. It has a wash of a very sheer muted pink but it's essentially clear. I absolutely adore this scent though, I use it almost every day as a lip balm, a gloss and a lip mask because of its flavour. It tastes like a warm vanilla and tastes more realistic than the Vanilla Beige flavour. It doesn't linger either. I probably use this one the most often. Cherry - A very bright red shade, I'd say it's more of a cool-toned red. I personally really like the colour on me! The flavour is really nice too, I was worried it would taste medicinal (which I absolutely hate) but it has a really nice cherry taste! I'd say it's sweeter than real cherries though. The scent does linger for slightly longer than Pink Sugar and Brown Sugar but not as much as Poppy and Vanilla Beige. It's a perfect red gloss for me. Overall, I really love this formula for its hydration, glossiness, plush feeling and its lasting power. I don't like the packaging since it's prone to air bubbles and it's a much thinner formula than others I've seen in a similar packaging so it can get a little messy. The applicator also isn't super precise which makes it a tiny bit difficult to apply the brighter shades without cleaning up the edges. The product also tends to separate (in the heat I'm assuming) so sometimes I just get clear oil unless I massage the tube for a couple of mins. The scents from best to worst (imo) are Pink Sugar/Brown Sugar/Cherry, Vanilla Beige and Poppy. Pink Sugar/Brown Sugar's scents linger the least, followed by Cherry, then Vanilla Beige and lastly Poppy's scent lingers the most. The intensity of the colours from most opaque to the sheerest is Cherry, Vanilla Beige, Poppy/Brown Sugar and Pink Sugar. Note that Brown Sugar is closest to my skin tone and Vanilla Beige is the lightest colour so that may have influenced how opaque it looks on my lips. Hope this review helps brown skin girls with 2 toned lips and those sensitive to fragrances and flavours!! :))
