ALWAYS apply this with good lighting - natural light is ideal. Apply lightly with an angled sculpting/contour brush wherever natural shadows would occur - cheekbones, jaw bone and nose (if you squint slightly so your vision is blurred when you look in the mirror, this will help you to identify the shadows better). Use a complementary highlighter where light would strike to help intensify the sculpted look.
