Glow Recipe - Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm

Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm Reviews

I love this. I've tried a few higher end cleansing balms and this one just beats all. it's got a nice scent but isn't too overpowering, cute packaging & works so well.
    It was okay
As far as cleansing butters go this one was okay but wasn’t the best I’ve used others which remove make up better. Having said that it smells amazing and is a rich feeling product - for me it’s only ever a first cleanse though.
    Doesn’t completely melt
Was looking forward to trying this balm but was slightly disappointed, doesn’t completely melt and some parts of the cleanser would stay solid. Doesn’t feel like it’s lifting dirt off the skin and feel like I have to use a lot to get a satisfactory result. Was not cheap as well so expected more.
I was really excited to try this product as I have purchased a few Glow Recipe products and loved them. I was really disappointed in this balm, there is very little Papaya smell, definitely not reminiscent of a Papaya Sorbet. The balm does not melt completely, when I was massaging it into my face parts of the formula were staying in its solid form. I wouldn't purchase this again, I actually preferred WISHFUL Clean Genie which I have purchased 3 times and loved, I wanted to try a different balm but I will be going back to WISHFUL.
A little goes a long way. Incredible texture, feels like butter but cleans your face of any make up, even the toughest! Smells amazing and at a fairly decent price! Hope it lasts long! :)
Been using this for about a month now and I absolutely love it. Great as a first cleanse and even when lazy still does the job on a single cleanse (I have acne-prone dehydrated skin). Feels really luxurious as well and I love the scent. Think I will be using this for a long time.
A really nice texture - it feels light and nourishing at the same time and it leaves the face glowing! I’m definitely a fan!
    The perfect cleanse
I was blown away by this cleanser, the scent took a little adjusting to as I felt like I was sitting down to breakfast on holiday (in a good way!), so anyone that loves a fruity, fresh smell you will love this. I love a balm that really emulsifies on contact with water, and rinses completely clean, and this does exactly that. It removes every single dot of makeup easily, it doesn't aggravate or sensitise my skin and it leaves no residue at all. I cannot fault the performance of this cleanser, and I know what I will be reaching for as my 1st cleanse at night for the forseeable future!
Glow recipe Papaya sorbet enzyme cleansing balm
This is the best makeup remover.
    Smells lovely
Yet another great product from Glow Recipe! I use this as the first step in my evening routine on dry skin. I then take a flannel and run it under warm water, ring it out, and put it over my face to steam a bit. This helps get the product off before moving onto the next step (I double cleanse). It is hard to rinse off if you only use water like you’re washing away a gel cleanser, but a warm, wet flannel works wonders!
    Too thick
This cleansing balm is not bad by any means, but I think it's too thick. It removes my makeup and sunscreen the way it should and it smells really pleasant, but it's not anything special in my opinion and leaves a film that is hard to wash away.
I wanted to like this but...
I'm so disappointed in this. When I add water to emulsify I CANNOT get this off my skin. It leaves a weird film and I don't know if its my spf or my foundation that might be causing this. I have to double cleanse every time I use it just to get the cleanser off. I love the Emily hardie and the drunk elephant but unfortunately this isn't for me.
    Only ok
The packaging is really nice and the product is clearly high quality. It just wasn't doing the job for me when removing makeup, as it would leave traces of foundation behind and especially eye makeup would stay in place. I found it hard to fully rinse, it leaves a sort of a film behind after use. It also doesn't smell much at all, no fruity scent like I imagined. I liked it for a quick cleanse on days I didn't wear makeup, but I wouldn't repurchase for that purpose.
    Love love love this
I love this cleansing balm so much! First, it smells amazing - think fresh fruit and skittles! Secondly, feels so luxurious when you massage it into skin. Lastly, cleanses the skin so well without leaving it feeling super tight - I have quite dry skin so it’s rear for my skin not to feel like parchment paper after cleansing. Will definitely try it again! Oh, and the jar looks great, which is always a nice bonus.
    A firm favourite!
As a lover of all things Korean and Japanese Beauty about 95% of my skincare collection is non-western brands. I had to give this a go. It melts into my skin and glides onto the skin and gently removes all traces of makeup and is a firm staple in my skincare routine. I remove like all my balms with a Face Halo and it comes off really well and leaves my skin feeling silky soft ready for my second cleanse. It also leaves a nice glow. If you love K/J Beauty you MUST try this!
    Better options available
I am a sucker for the packaging and fragrances of Glow Recipe, but this product just doesn’t do it for me. It is not effective at lifting my make-up and doesn’t wash off well - I have to wipe it off forcefully with a cloth then use another cleanser to remove the remaining traces and stop it from clogging my pores. I’ll be sticking to Farmacy Green Clean or Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel on future.
    Wonderful cleanser
What an amazing cleansing balm. It simply dissolves makeup and not a trace is left on the skin. I simply rub it over my face dry and then rinse it off it. It gives a healthy glow and super clean feel. I'm glad to have tried it. Also, it’s a generous quantity and should last ages as u only need a small amount. Glow Recipe is a winner for me.
I had high hopes for this balm after reading glowing reviews, but unfortunately, this simply doesn't work for me. The packaging is the best part about it: it feels sleek and luxurious, and I love the scoop that comes with it. However, this doesn't emulsify properly and leaves an oily film on your face. I always double cleanse, so at first, I wasn't put off by this, but the oily film sticks to my hands as well. I need to wash my hands after using this because otherwise, my second cleanser won't foam properly, and therefore can't wash this balm off. It feels like a chore to use, rather than a pleasant experience. For the price, I had much higher hopes. I will be using this up so it doesn't go to waste, but I will not be repurchasing.
    Best double cleanser
I have now purchased this twice! I get anxious if I will run out and I think that says it all. I have seen reviews which say it doesn’t get rid of make up and is too oily but I do think a little goes a long way with this product. I am a hug fan of Glow Recipe products and this is another essential to add to the collection. I do not double cleanse everyday so this lasts me a few months at least.
    Very underwhelming
I wanted to love this - a fruity smelling cleansing balm by glow recipe, sign me up! However, the scent was more like plastic than anything else and as a cleansing balm, it’s just very mediocre considering the price. Yes, it removes makeup but it doesn’t emulsify so you’re left scrubbing it off with a flannel because even after using a second cleanser there’s still film left all over your face. I’m glad I only had a tester size (which lasted for 6 uses) as getting through a full size of this would be a chore.
It smells like a fruity cheese snack
Once I opened the jar (love its matt color) I was brought back to my youth when mom gave me a pot of fruity cheese for a snack, hence I immediately loved its smell. I tested it with various types of makeup and I'm pretty satisfied as you don't need very much to remove any dirt. My only complaint is that with some kinds of mascaras and eyeliners the balm doesn't seem to be 100% effective. Anyway, I really appreciate that eyes don't sting at all.
    Great cleanser for colder days
Love this. Not an emulsifying balm so a little more work to remove with a warm flannel but it’s been a fantastic cleanser for transitioning my skin from summer to fall. Despite my skin being on the oiler side, the cold weather and consequent central heating has me reaching for any products to introduce moisture and take away that tight feeling. This leaves my skin feeling nourished, spotlessly clean and it smells fantastic! Definitely deserving of a space in my regular rotation.
    *joins my cleansing balm shelfie*
I love trying out new cleansing balms and it's not often that I buy one balm on repeat... but this one made the cut (I have another waiting on standby!). The texture is gorgeous and oh-so pleasing, the subtle scent is a joy that doesn't irritate my eyes - like others have. Whenever I use this I feel like I'm really treating myself and my skin. It's a lovely self-care moment and after rinsing, my VOTARY Face Cloths always come up clean so I'm 100% this removes every speck of my make up - as it should!
    Papaya sorbet enzyme
Doesn’t emulsify makeup so easily especially eye make up...
So nice on the skin! My skin feels so clean and you can tell there is no harsh ingredients.
    The BEST Glow Recipe product
I bought this for a first cleanse as part of a double cleanse routine (thanks James Welsh). Unlike some cleansing balms where you wash off quickly, this product works best if you emulsify with water and keep massaging for ~30 seconds. Otherwise this leaves a film that some other reviewers didn't like. This is also how the founders of GR recommend using it. I don't wear make up so I don't use a lot each time but I love using this product every night. This product has helped massively with gentle exfoliation around my beard hairs to completely stop all the ingrown/messed up hairs I used to have to extract daily. This is truly a godsend for my beardy manface and I will be rebuying again and again!
    Simply Shook!
I am so pleasantly impressed by this, as always with Glow Recipe products. Smells wonderful, the texture is so light and creamy and it really removes everything with just a few swipes! Highly recommend!
The packaging is beautiful and the balm has a lovely texture and makes my dry skin feel very soft. It certainly feels like a product which has been formulated well. However, I don’t wear much makeup and yet I found it did not remove the liner from my bottom lashes like other cleansing balms around the same price point do. Additionally, I found the scent to be far too light to be enjoyed.
My first one and I love it
This is the first cleansing balm I bought and I love the whole concept of double cleansing as well as this product. I am becoming Glow Recipe fan :)
    Beautiful and fresh
I have tried many cleansers, and this is one of the best. It’s not as thick as some others, when you rub it on it’s very buttery and silky. After adding water it turns into a lovely thick creamy consistency. I found it left my skin very soft after and did not leave it feeling oily like I have read from other reviews so this could be due to skin type. My skin is combination/dry but I would not say I have terribly dry skin apart from the odd rosacea outbreak. Great cleanser very refreshing and enjoy this in my morning routine.
Great concept but not for me
I love the concept and ingredients of this product but it leaves a heavy oily coat. As a result of this I always cleanse after. I also have oily skin and therefore do not like the feel of the heavy oily coat left on my skin.
    Love love love!
I wanted a switch from the Emma Hardie cleansing balm that I’ve been using for years and this was a great replacement! I’ve only used it once or twice and it’s left my skin feeling cleansed (all makeup off in the first cleanse) without it being stripped. I can have eczema outbreaks and this has helped keep that at bay. The texture is amazing and you definitely don’t need a lot. There is a light smell, nothing to irritate the skin which I love. Packaging is great as well! Love it
This is my first time switching over to a cleansing balm and leaving the makeup wipes behind. I'm shocked at how well this balm took away my makeup. So fast, easy, and smells delicious! I won't look back now :)
    Best of the best
    Best cleanse ever....
    On my repurchase list
I have forever struggled getting my makeup up off. Even using micellar waters, I'm still rubbing and pulling my eyes just to get my waterproof mascara off (even bought a waterproof eye makeup remover that still pulls) but not with this. I tried this for the first time the other day and my jaw dropped. I gently rubbed my eyes with this stuff for about 10 seconds and all my mascara was GONE. No under eye residue nothing. It left my skin feeling so smooth and supple. No stripping or eye stinging. Smells delicate and amazing. Could not recommend anymore.
    A great cleansing balm
I love everything about this balm. The texture, the smell (very subtle but just enough) the way it removes makeup and how my skin feels afterwards. It's very emollient so the skin feels clean and soothing. There's no tugging at stubborn makeup and no residue left afterwards. A beautiful cleansing balm and one I'll be re-purchasing.
    Absolutely adore it
I can't say enough good things about this product. It smells amazing without being overpowering (and as someone who has eaten papaya before I do think it smells really similar!), it melts my makeup away effortlessly, it doesn't irritate my skin at all, and it leaves it clean without depriving it of moisture. I don't get what other reviews are saying about it not melting all the way - maybe try scooping out smaller amounts? Anyway, I love this so so much!
    Expected more
For me, this is an average cleansing balm, I did not like that it leaves a film on the skin, other than that it’s ok, it does the job.
    Melts away make up
I purchased this item when it was first released to try & I have just kept on re-purchasing since. I love fruity smelling products & it smells just like papaya. It melts away makeup & my skin feels soft & clean afterwards. It doesn’t last as long as I’d like but I still love it. To be honest all of Glow Recipes products are amazing & smell great.
First time trying a cleansing balm and I love it! I always double cleanse when using this and recommend anyone using a cleansing oil/balm to follow with a water based cleanser. It lifts all make-up and SPF including waterproof mascara leaving my skin feeling super fresh and I love that it's non-stripping to my combination skin. Some people say it leaves a film when washing off but I found using a damp cloth to wipe away the emulsified cleanser works perfectly. A little definitely goes a long way with this one so well worth the money and highly recommend.
A great balm, a bit overpriced though
I really enjoy it, it gives me a pampering session whenever I take the day off my face and follow it with NIOD's Sanskrit Saponins. The texture is wonderful and it gets everything off, I do think it's a bit pricey for what it is.
    Smells so fresh!
I love using cleansing balms as my first cleanse in the evening and this one definitely lived up to my expectations! This removed all traces of my makeup without leaving a heavy or greasy residue on my skin ( which I sometimes experience with balms). My favourite thing about this balm would have to be the smell - it's so fresh and fruity and makes cleansing my skin 1000 times more enjoyable! I would definitely recommend it!
    Gorgeous cleansing balm
Usually, I prefer a cleansing oil over a balm but this works well for me and isn’t too heavy or rich. I have combination skin that is dehydrated and this feels like a good balancing cleanse. My skin has been better since I started using it and I have less congestion on my cheeks thanks to the papaya enzymes. I didn’t think I would like the scent, I thought it might be too sickly sweet but it’s actually really fresh.
    Great makeup remover with benefits
This product takes ALL the makeup off, I wear full coverage, well set makeup that is basically waterproof and mask proof, but this bad boy can make all of that disappear. In terms of using it, it feels like melted butter on the skin and it gives me a major throwback to my really oily teenage skin so that feeling can sometimes make me cringe but it does remove all makeup so no complaints. Although it feels very oily, it doesn't leave a film of oil behind and I feel like after washing everything off, that my skin looks more radiant and less congested so the papaya enzyme is definitely working. I did try another product after I finished my first container but had to return to this, as nothing atm can compete with this imo. If you like this I would recommend the watermelon sleep mask.
    Very good
This does a very good job at removing even dark eye makeup and traces of mascara. I am very impressed. I like the way it leaves my skin clean but not dry. I find I can wash it away easily, I saw the other reviews but I really don't have a problem removing it from my face. I really like it. But, to be honest, I like all the balms and oils I used lately, like the ones from PAI or Caudalie (this one is more efficient than Caudalie, though). They work much better than the foams and other products I was using before.
I’ve honestly never known anything like this, I love it! Such a great consistency and really does melt into the skin. Feels very gentle and soothing and does an amazing job of removing all traces of the day. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone.
    Balm Heaven
Really enjoyed using this, the balm really does melt into the skin and washes off really nicely leaving no balm residue on the skin. It removes all makeup and removed my mascara perfectly. And of course like all Glow Recipe products, it looks so cute in my bathroom!
    Irritates eyes
Otherwise rather good cleanser, maybe a bit difficult to wash off properly. But it really irritates my eyes so cannot really make full use of it.
    Good Options
My first reaction is how lovely this is to massages at the begging, it feels lovely and becomes creamy on the dry skin beautifully, and the slight hint of papaya is so nice. It doesn't emulsify as much as I like a balm too, however, still comes off cleanly as easily and melts off all that buildup well. I do love that this has a gentle amount of enzymes to help keep my skin brighter and smoother. Not my favourite but I do really like it and is a wonderful experience in using.
I have bought this three times now. Each jar lasts me about 2.5 months and is honestly amazing. It doesn’t break me out and has helped massively with dehydration. This year made my skin break out really bad with closed comedones and these have almost completely disappeared. It’s improved the quality of the skin around any spots that I do have and has given a natural glow particularly around the cheekbones. Honestly will be buying this for a long time.
    So so
Well, I was excited about this product when it first came out but it's not so good. I like the fact that it never broke me out (most of the stuff break me out) so that's good. It smells really nice also. The thing is, it melts makeup, but the eye and lip makeup kinda stick to the skin, just melted, you need to double if not triple cleanse to get every single residue of makeup off your skin. And it needs a lot, not just a scoop. Comparing to the drunk elephant cleanser it's nothing. I will finish this jar and I will re-purchase the drunk elephant for the 5-6th time.
    Never breaks me out
I have combination/oily acne prone skin. I use make up and sunscreen everyday and this cleanser works amazingly on removing all of my make up and all the dirt of my face. Recommend this product for everyone! :)
    The best cleanser!
I’ve tried many a balm/oil based cleanser and this is hands down my all time favourite. It removes make up really well without stinging my eyes and doesn’t leave skin feeling tight. Really recommend!
Amazing also for my oily skin
I was sceptical of putting something greasy on my oily skin, but I must say double cleansing is amazing thing. It removes the majority of the impurities from my skin and then I just follow with my foam cleanser. My skin looks so much better, I have less breakouts and skin is more hydrated. Definitely recommend.
    Not impressed
This product is so overpriced and such a gimmick like most of Glow Recipes products. It smells like plastic/ Vaseline all most and just wipes of as soon as it touches water wouldn’t recommend.
    Not the best balm
I wanted to love this as I really like Glow Recipe, but it doesn't quite hit the mark for me. It smells lovely; the texture is really rich and luxurious; and it does remove makeup...BUT it doesn't emulsify properly! It goes a little milky but creates a slippery film on my skin when I try to wash it off, and I have to use a flannel to remove it. With a flannel it does come off fine, but I love the ease of balm cleansers that I can just rinse off (instead of the faff of having to have flannels lying around, washing them, etc.) I would absolutely love it if Glow listened to the feedback and re-formulated this slightly.
    Too oily
The product is good but took a bit long time too rinse it off with the water, very oily...
Normally use Sunday Riley Blue Moon but felt like a change as is quite expensive, but this is lovely, Blue Moon never really got all my eye make up off but this does, work best with warm water and Muslin cloth obviously but smells lovely and is well priced. Will re-purchase for sure.
    Don’t believe the hype
I usually never write reviews however I almost feel an obligation to do so regarding this product as I fear this for many will be their first try with a cleansing balm - and it really shouldn’t be! I really wanted to love this product as I do many of glow recipes other products, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case. This balm does not remove makeup nearly as well as other cleansing balms but the worst thing about this product is that it does not emulsify (turn into a milky texture upon contact with water) this balm simply sits on the face - it’s sticky and very hard to remove and clogs the pores. Cleansing balms in general are fantastic and double cleansing has really made a difference for my skin - so if you are thinking about trying out a cleansing balm as a first step I recommend that you do, but I also recommend you try another product than this. Personally I swear by “All Clean” by Heimish.
    Was OK
Nice scent, but it didn’t really take all of the makeup off!
    Nice but not nice enough...
Was so excited to try this.. quality packaging, nice scent and feels lovely to put on but itleaves a film on my face and I HAVE to second cleanse after.. only using when wear makeup. Won't repurchase unfortunately.
    Lovely product
Really beautiful scent, light texture which removes all of my makeup. The only issue is it’s difficult to rinse off and can leave a slimy film on the face. Works well as a 2 step cleanse. I’d buy again
I don't usually use cleansing balm for makeup remover since they can be a bit drying, but this product works perfectly. It removed a lot of makeup without leaving a residue, and it left my skin feeling nice and firm, not too dry (I have dry skin so usually post-cleanser, my skin would be super dry, but of course always follow with another cleanser). It also smells amazing and not overwhelming. Would recommend to anyone as a first cleansing balm!
    Super impressed
I have spent such a great amount of time and money searching for a good cleansing balm - think I've finally found 'the one'! The jar itself feels heavy and luxurious, the product has a slight (not overpowering) scent, which I enjoy. It removes makeup without making my skin feel dry, doesn't make my eyes sting...I actually look forward to removing my makeup at night! Will absolutely purchase again. And again!
    Perfect for double cleanse
I bought this as my first balm cleanser to double cleanse, I usually use a micellar water but this product is perfect, it melts all my makeup including eye makeup and emulsifies and washes off perfectly. It's perfect for a double cleanse and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.
    Best balm cleanser so far
I bought this to replace another cleansing balm I had which I suspected was irritating my skin but after a week of using this my skin is so smooth and soft. I only use this at night to take off spf and makeup and paired with their sweet chef serum shots my skin has never looked better! The packaging is glass and it so heavy it feels like £30 well spent. It is only 100ml however which is less than my previous cleanser but is worth every penny. Will repurchase!
    My skin is so soft
This is the best balm I’ve ever used. Melts make up away in seconds - especially surprised with how fast my waterproof mascara came off (eyeko yoga - I usually end up with the stuff left on for days because nothing will budge it)! My skin the next day was so soft and glowy. Feels lovely going on, smells really soft, it’s not overpowering at all, you don’t need a crazy amount and it melts really easily. I use it with my foreo and it’s just really brightened my skin up!! I’ll absolutely be buying it again.
    Almost perfect.
I've been wanting to try Glow Recipe for a while, and caved and bought this on the day of release as I love cleansing balms. I do like this one - the texture is nice and melts quickly and easily. It really is very good and gentle for eyes as they claim and removes SPF well. For me, it leaves a fairly heavy film and is not the easiest to wash off. As I double cleanse I don't mind too much, but I don't love the feeling even once it's off as someone with combo skin as I worry about leaving some residual oils on my face. The scent isn't of papaya as I'd hoped, but of strawberry from the extract included. Packaging and quality are lovely, but I don't think I'd repurchase. A good balm however just not my perfect match!
    Great cleansing balm
Bought this as an alternative to other popular balms as it is vegan, and I would definitely buy it again! Great to remove makeup and good for dry skin. It is super gentle and does not irritate the skin, the smell is also subtle. The Packaging made a £30 product feel like I had spent a lot more than I had on it! A little also goes a long way, so the price is also very reasonable. Definitely a glow recipe fan after this product!
    New HG!
I’ve been looking for a cleansing balm or oil for ages that doesn’t sting my eyes when I’m taking my mascara off and this is brilliant! I’ve tried body shop camomile, drunk elephant slaai (the worst for stinging eyes in my experience) as well as many other cult products and this is my far the best! Smells like starburst and so lovely to use. Also helps that their packaging looks super chic! 10/10 - gave my skin a real healthy glow and took all my makeup off without leaving an oily film!
