Don't skip the gloves, it's string enough to stain skin. It does help me ski toner in salon as it works like a proper toner. Hair is shinier after, the only minus is it washes out very quickly and on my hair it feels minimally drying not a big issue, but it could be more conditioning. It's worth it though as the toner in salon will cost same or more than the tube that will last you ages.

This is really worth it and gives amazing results. I don't normally colour my hair, but decided to push the boat out and have highlights before my holiday. I was nervous about the highlights as I have dark brown/black hair and, as feared, my hair came out pretty much orangey yellow with the highlights. I had to endure this for my holiday and my hair looked and felt awful for 2 weeks. I ordered the Aveda toner when I got back and was nervous about using it as I've never done anything like this before, but it was so easy to use (just leave on for a few minutes after washing like a conditioning mask) and my hair feels so soft and silky again. The colour result is perfect, it's covered most of the hideous orange but left a warm brown tint (not red or copper in any way). I'm so relieved! Let's see how many washes it lasts!
