The story behind ‘Bitter Buddhist’ – a beautiful, creamy pale sage shade – is hilariously cynical; ‘The crowd was a mixture of teenagers attempting to solve their own problems (before they actually have any) and middle age people with a desperate look of “save me” on their faces – it was depressing.’ Yep… it’s a mystery to us too. But what we do know is, we want it on our nails. Completely irresistible, Smith & Cult’s to-die-for Nail Lacquers are not only swoon-inducingly good looking, they also star impressive staying power. With a broad, flattened brush for easy, even application, each pigment-rich shade is opaque with one coat – perfect for achieving an enviable, streak-free manicure in minutes.
Roll gently between palms before use to warm product. Apply a fine coat from the nail bed to the edge. For a chip-free manicure, wear with Smith & Cult's Base Coat and Top Coat.
Created by the brains behind Hard Candy, Dineh Mohajer– a self-confessed ‘beauty junkie’, whose real-life encounters inspired the wickedly witty names and dangerously desirable shade range – Smith & Cult’s Nail Lacquers are a must-have fix for any make up addict. Delivering smooth, even coverage and a stunning spectrum of covetable colours, the high-performance formula is high-shine, long-wear and 5-free.

I'm going to bump up to five stars from my original review. Great long wear from Bitter Buddhist after three days and the more I've worn it the more I've come to be impressed with the editorial shade. Noticeable enough to gain a compliment, which never usually happens with my other polishes!

Thick formula, but still needs 2/3 coats
    4 out of 5 stars
I bought Bitter Buddhist as I was intrigued by the colour and the buzz surrounding it with some bloggers and fashion sites. On the plus side the colour didn't disappoint me in being intriguing when applied; it really is quite an unusual shade that can be low-key but noticeable at the same time. On the minus side, it is quite a thick formula compared to two other Smith & Cult polishes I have which are easier to apply. I needed three coats to be sure of no patchy streaks or brush marks and then finished it off with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Can't comment on how hard wearing it is as I've only had it on a day but no tip wear or chips as yet.
