Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for Face SPF 50 is the all-day, everyday, all-in-one beauty secret. Developed more than seventy years ago by Ms. Arden herself, Eight Hour Cream was the first cosmetic product to bear the prestigious Arden name. A blend of petrolatum, skin soothing beta-hydroxy and Vitamin E, the apricot balm earned its ‘Eight Hour’ moniker at the suggestion of one of Ms. Arden’s loyal clients, who claimed that this miracle cream healed her son’s scraped knee in… eight hours. In Sun Defense, the original recipe is transformed into a featherweight, oil-free daily moisturiser, that hydrates and protects while still allowing skin to breathe. The ideal all-year daily sunscreen for those with normal to combination skin types.

Apply liberally and evenly to face 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply as needed or after towel drying, swimming or perspiring. Children under 6 months of age: ask a doctor. Suitable for all skin types.

Harnessing all the skin-nourishing, beauty-boosting benefits of the original Eight Hour Cream, Sun Defense for Face is lightweight, quickly absorbed and infused with a broad spectrum SPF 50 sun filter, to provide everyday (non-greasy, non-chalky) protection from the sun. We’ve all heard the mantra ‘wear sunscreen’ but many formulas feel thick and suffocating on the skin – which is where this nourishing yet breathable lotion comes into its own; hydrating, soothing and softening with the signature ‘Eight Hour’ base, whilst creating a high factor, long-lasting barrier between skin and the ravages wrought by prolonged UV exposure. A brilliant base for make up, this is a versatile addition to every skin care wardrobe.

Water/Aqua/Eau, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Zinc Oxide, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Arachidyl Alcohol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Arachidyl Glucoside, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Behenyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Bht, Disodium Edta, Parfum/Fragrance, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid.

    Not good!

As far as SPF goes this is probably the only positive! It’s so greasy and leaves my normal to dry skin oily in less than an hour! You just can’t wear under makeup! Even leaving for a good hour it still looked awful! It goes on ok as long as you do it in two to three goes like you would any other SPF to get the right amount of protection. I suffer with melasma and it did absolutely nothing for that unfortunately! My melasma still came through! In fact it seemed to show up more when I used this. I tried it over a period of 7 days to give it a fair chance and try it in various ways. The first thing you notice is the overwhelming floral smell! If you’re sensitive to scent this won’t be for you as it doesn’t go quickly, it seems to linger for some time! When applying in two to three layers to get the right protection it does seem to sink in eventually, but takes a while and does leave a white case for a bit, but this does fade in a few minutes. After trying it on it’s own, with and without my usual moisturiser, with and without primer etc, this just doesn’t sit well. It goes greasy very quickly and leaves you feeling like you’ve put oils on your skin. I asked two if my friends to try it too, one has oily skin, one combo. The oily skin was horrific within minutes! Just didn’t seem to soak in at all! Similar with the combo, but did rub in with a fair bit of effort but within a very short time it’s oily again. For the cost I was very disappointed! Definitely not worth investing in.

This moisturizer is great, it sinks into the skin nicely and is very lightweight, the best advice is to apply it 30 mins before exposure to the sun.

    Awful

I bought this in thinking it was going to be the perfect moisturiser as it had the sun defence, boy was I wrong, after applying for the first time it left my face grey & the texture was horrid. I think if your using this on holiday to sit around the pool would be ok. But it’s not for every day.
