Schoen was fascinated by the speed and secrecy of Christiane’s mental processes, and deliberately chose notes he felt echoed the illumination of her neural pathways. Tiare blossom absolute – derived from a type of gardenia native to Tahiti – smells like the living bloom – and its subtle sensuality is lifted by an abundance of luminous top notes; magnolia bud, hedione (the more verdant, less sweet side of jasmine) and bergamot. Pink pepper – a Schoen signature – lends a spark of spiciness, why the soft, sexy dry-down is a lingering blend of smooth sandalwood, cedar and musk.
