Things We Finish: Empties #1

Things We Finish: Empties #1

What happens when a team of cosmetic obsessives have everyday access to beauty nirvana? A shed-load of empties, that’s what. Here’s a quick glimpse at the things we run out of – and our feelings about them.

Verity Douglas (Me!) – Content Editor

I’m a bit trigger-happy when it comes to Alpha-H’s {Instant Facial} – spritzing it often, and liberally, because I’m addicted to the tingling sensation this evokes (no (not even) pain, no gain is my motto). It smells a bit… clinical (?), but the beauty benefits are infinite – plumping, softening and glow-enhancing in an instant.

Odacité’s {Radiance Effect Serum Concentrate} has a delicate, lemon-y fragrance and allows me to feel like one of those ‘grown up’ women who take time to do things like ‘massage in oils’ and look after their cuticles (one day)! It’s really uplifting, a little bit ritualistic and leaves my face feeling wonderfully dewy.

Always a sucker for aesthetics, I couldn’t resist Living Proof’s {Restore Shampoo} – perfect for making my bathroom look fancy, and taming my unruly mane. This lathers beautifully to eliminate oils (and several days of dry shampoo) whilst conditioning dry ends so my hair feels soft and looks glossy.

Dimitra Mathioudakis – Digital Designer

A fan of anything organic, Dimi stockpiles rahua’s {Shampoo} – a gorgeous honey-like cleanser which nourishes while eliminating build-up – all without a single synthetic ingredient. It has a subtle, nutty scent and leaves locks beautifully smooth and silky.

Dr. Bronner’s {Castile Liquid Soaps} are a pure, clarifying blend of coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils with pure essential oils – so natural, you can even clean your teeth with them! We like them for washing make up brushes – but they’re also gorgeous hand and body cleansers.

Maria Pires – Digital Designer

Maria, our gorgeous designer, donated her ‘run out’ Caudalie {Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum} – about which she has this to say; “This is my go-to everyday serum as my skin is dry and very dehydrated – especially during the winter – and this works wonders. It does exactly what it promises – absorbing quickly so it’s ideal under moisturiser or foundation, to keep my skin super-hydrated all day. I’ve been repeat purchasing since I first tried it (I’m now on bottle number four).”

Alison Jones – Head of Merchandising (and beauty maths)

Having tried (and tired of) hundreds of beauty offerings, it takes a major player to earn Alison’s enthusiastic praise. Undoubtedly the most-expensive-conditioner-known-to-humanity, Philip B’s {Russian Amber Imperial Conditioning Crème} won her over in spite of the price tag. “Admittedly, not for the faint hearted BUT, never has there been a better case of getting what you pay for. This literally transforms your hair into a silky smooth ‘just stepped out of the salon’ mane – and if you use just once a week (and you only need a little bit) it’s basically a bargain?!”

Aesop’s {Fabulous Face Oil} is another lucky winner of Alison’s, sought-after ‘Seal of Approval’. A soothing blend of juniper berry, jasmine and ylang ylang, this silky elixir reduces sensitivity and counteracts congestion, to leave skin feeling smooth, soft and contented.
